If you are an artist and you are new to Atlanta, here are some resources to help you get connected with other area artists and art resources:


For Performing Arts: Actors, Musicians, Filmmakers, etc.

- A must if you are an actor, director, playwright or theatre geek living in Atlanta. This is a Yahoo group and requires a Yahoo ID to subscribe. Here you will find info on auditions, upcoming shows, comp tickets and a healthy dose of politics, theatre style. - This is the organization for actors and theatre folk in Atlanta. This organization supports 146 performing arts organizations. The website itself lists related auditions, jobs and a show guide. - One of the biggest of Atlanta's film groups, Image offers classes, networking, screenings, etc.

For Visual Arts: Painters, Sculptors, Photographers, etc

- Register at this site for the Art News List Serv. This list serv serves greater Atlanta and is a must for local artists. You will find announcements of upcoming exhibits, calls for submissions, job postings, people looking for studio space, and a healthy dose of discussion on the arts. Really, if you are a visual artist in the ATL, you need to subscribe to Art News.

- Georgia Artists Registry, Savannah College of Art & Design, 1600 Peachtree Street NW, Atlanta GA 3030, 404-253-3100 Email info@scad.edu. The good folks there will help you get connected with all sorts of good things in the area. Go register! - Gallery, performance space, party place and general artists' hangout, Eyedrum does it all and lets you do it too. Got an idea for an exhibit? You can probably do it at Eyedrum. It's the Atlanta art scene as done by actual Atlanta artists. - The Contemporary is way more than just a gallery. It provides education and career help for artists, and lectures about art for artists and non-artists alike. It also hosts some rocking parties and benefits from local-art-guru Stan Woodward as its communications director. - Every Monday night, the Apache Cafe hosts Art Mondays. There are group drawing sessions, live music, drinks and music.
